Five Senses

Rarely an opportunity arises to make an image that not only is a visual treat for the eyes, but also one that exalts all the other senses!

Occasionally when the conditions are right, the overnight mist and the hot geysers’ steam linger in the river valley even when the sun is way above the horizon! While the water, woods and the surrounding area was blanketed by mist, I patiently waited for the outline of the sun to show up in the right spot to make the image.

I want the viewers to think about the sounds of pelicans and geese near the trees, along with the sounds of streaming river water…I want the viewers to reflect on the smell and taste of the sulphur-laden pungent air emanating from the geyser springs…I want the viewers to visualize the feeling of the cold mist touching one’s body…
